Introduction to Business GEB 2011

We have a great course for undergraduate students thinking about pursuing a degree in business (but not sure if that’s what they want to do or are uncertain about what area in business they’d most like to study) and for those who plan to go after other majors but want an overview of business to round out their education.
It’s called “Introduction to Business” (GEB 2011)—and it gives those who take it a “bird’s eye” view of the entire gamut of business disciplines—accounting, finance, management, international business, management information systems, marketing, decision sciences, human resource management—you name it. Not only does it give you a fundamental understanding of these aspects of business, but can help you decide which of them (or combination of them), if any, you most like and are most suited to your talents!
Not only that, but it’s been designed into a unique, innovative, interactive, and “fun” package that those who have taken it continue to rave about. Taught by Associate Dean Cliff Perry, the course is fully online, and incorporates textbook reading, Power point slides, audio, video cases, self-study assignments, essay exercises. For example, each student creates his or her own homepage. Students are assigned to teams, and teams engage in discussion forums to respond to assignments as a group; their answers are then posted on an “all teams” video discussion forum.

Wall of Stars

And, it’s not too late to buy a star and leave a legacy on the Wall of Stars, to be displayed in the lobby of Commons Hall in the new business building complex to open in Fall, 2007. Read about this great opportunity at http://business.fiu.edu/Spotlights/building_complex_fund.cfm.
